[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Global toy company Aurora World announced on the 23rd that it has signed an official license agreement with the Korean Educational Broadcasting System (EBS) to launch Pungsoo character products.
An Aurora World official stated, "Through this agreement, Aurora has agreed to develop, produce, and distribute mechanical toys and mechanical plush products featuring the Pungsoo character," adding, "Starting from May, various products utilizing Pungsoo will be released sequentially."
EBS trainee 'Pungsoo' has established itself as the most popular creator in South Korea by freely crossing various platforms, including the YouTube channel 'Giant Pung TV.' With unique concepts such as 'a ten-year-old penguin from Antarctica' and 'EBS trainee,' and a bold personality, Pungsoo is loved by all age groups beyond the 10-20s demographic.
A company representative said, "With this contract with EBS, Aurora World plans to leverage the know-how gained from developing various domestic character toy products such as Shinbi Apartment, Pinkfong, and BT21 to develop mechanical character toys and figure products, which will be sold starting mid-year," and added, "By commercializing 'Pungsoo,' the most popular creator across all generations in South Korea, into high-quality toys, we aim to expand the market to teenagers as well as the 20s and 30s millennial generation, creating a significant impact in the character toy industry."
