[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is urgently providing masks to high-risk groups for infection, such as pregnant women, to prevent COVID-19.

Although the public mask 5-day rotation system is in place, the district supports masks for pregnant women and elderly people who are cautious about going out, find it difficult to stand in line for long periods, or cannot have someone purchase masks on their behalf.

From the 20th until April 3rd, masks (10 per person: 5 KF94 masks and 5 dental masks) will be distributed to about 3,000 pregnant women in the area.

Pregnant women can visit their local community service center with an ID proving residency in Songpa-gu along with a maternity handbook or pregnancy confirmation certificate. If the individual cannot visit in person, a guardian or family member may collect the masks on their behalf.

Since recent cluster infections of COVID-19 have continued in nursing facilities, 130,000 dental masks will be distributed to related facilities starting from the 25th. The main targets are 12,500 workers and elderly users at 183 long-term care institutions in the area.

Additionally, masks will be provided to 6,000 health-vulnerable elderly people, including those living alone and those receiving side dish delivery services.

On the 17th, the district also supplied quarantine supplies to transportation workers who have close contact with residents. Masks (6,000) and hand sanitizers (4,500) were provided to 8 city bus companies and 19 corporate taxi companies. Disinfection was carried out in dispatch offices, driver waiting rooms, rest areas, and offices within transportation companies, and preventive behavior guidelines such as mask-wearing were promoted.

Furthermore, in preparation for school reopening in two weeks, all 81 elevators in 87 elementary, middle, and high schools in the area were identified and antibacterial films were applied.

In addition, to manage quarantine in Munjeong Business Valley, where about 3,000 companies are located, multi-facility quarantine management manuals and elevator antibacterial films were distributed to 26 building management offices, making efforts to prevent COVID-19.

Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “Masks are being urgently provided for pregnant women who face limitations in drug treatment and elderly people who are vulnerable to infection due to health weaknesses. We will continue to do our best to protect the health and safety of residents by addressing needs throughout the community until the COVID-19 situation ends.”
