Support for Transportation and Meal Expenses Needed for Social Entry
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 22nd that it will recruit participants for the ‘2020 Youth Job-Seeking Activity Allowance Support Project’ (hereinafter, Dream Card Project) from the 30th to April 17th to help unemployed youth in the province enter society and support various expenses necessary for job seeking activities.
The Dream Card Project provides up to 2 million KRW over 4 months, with 500,000 KRW per month, to alleviate the financial difficulties of young people struggling due to prolonged job preparation periods and increased social costs caused by domestic and international economic downturns and employment decreases, allowing them to focus steadily on job-seeking activities.
Youth can use the support funds for education fees, book purchases, exam fees, interview preparation costs necessary for job seeking activities, as well as expenses required for social entry activities such as transportation and meals.
Youth aged 18 to 34 who reside in Gyeongnam, graduated more than 2 years ago based on their final academic background (graduates before March 2018), are unemployed, and have a household income at or below 150% of the median income can apply through the Dream Card website. Applicants will be comprehensively reviewed based on household income, time elapsed since graduation, unemployment period, and job-seeking activity plan, and final candidates will be selected.
Cha Seok-ho, Director of the Job Economy Division of Gyeongsangnam-do, said, “According to a satisfaction survey conducted among participants, 77.1% responded that it was practically helpful for their job skills, and it is being used as a valuable job-seeking expense that gives hope to youth,” urging active participation of local youth in this year’s project as well.
Meanwhile, the Dream Card Project, launched in 2019, selected and supported 3,949 youth, and as of the end of February, 552 have successfully found employment.
