[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon urged the disclosure of personal information of participants in the 'n-bang' case, saying, "Not only Dr. N but also those who signed up as members should have their names revealed."
On the 21st, Jin said on his Facebook, "They are de facto accomplices, and if they even sent child pornography to register as members, that alone constitutes a separate crime."
As public calls for the disclosure of personal information of 'n-bang' participants grow louder, a national petition demanding the disclosure of the identity of the chatroom operator Mr. A has surpassed one million signatures. It took only three days since it was posted on the 18th.
As of 1:40 PM on the 21st, a total of 1,002,507 people agreed to the petition titled "Please disclose the identity of the Telegram n-bang suspect and put him on the photo line."
The petitioner requested, "Please put the perpetrator who drove others into shame and young students into hell on the photo line." He added, "Please do not let him cover his face with a hat or mask under any circumstances," and "Sound the alarm on the distorted sexual perceptions of Korean men."
Mr. A was arrested by the police on charges of producing child sexual exploitation materials and operating the Telegram 'Doctor's Room' from December 2018 to March last year.
It was investigated that Mr. A operated a paid chatroom divided into three levels, where anyone could watch videos in a 'preview' chatroom, and depending on the amount of virtual currency paid, could watch videos of higher severity.
Meanwhile, the police are discussing the disclosure of Mr. A's identity. If the disclosure is decided, it will be the first case of identity disclosure under Article 25 of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
