[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The World Health Organization (WHO) has urged young people to participate in efforts to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). This reflects concerns over the recent situation in countries like the United States and Korea, where young people have been enjoying leisure and entertainment despite fears of COVID-19 spreading.

On the 20th (local time), WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, "Today, I have a message for young people. You are not invincible."

He explained, "We are learning more every day about COVID-19 and the diseases it causes," adding, "One thing we know is that while older people have been hit the hardest, COVID-19 does not spare young people either."

He warned, "COVID-19 can hospitalize you for weeks, and it can even kill you," and cautioned, "Even if you are not sick, your choices about where you go can mean life or death for others."
