The 10th Season of the Play 'Sheeo Madness' Opens on April 3... Casting Announced

[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] The play "Shear Madness," produced by the production company Contents Planning Co., Ltd., will open its 10th production on April 3rd with 12 new rookie actors selected through a fierce competition with a 1000 to 1 ratio.

The licensed play "Shear Madness" (original by Paul Portner, producer Jaehwan Noh) has discovered new talents through auditions every season and staged performances. Actors such as Lee Si-gang (2nd production), Jeon Jeong-gwan (2nd production), Jung Seong-il (4th production), and Lee Hyun-jin (5th production) were launched through "Shear Madness."

"Shear Madness" celebrated its 40th anniversary earlier this year. Since its premiere in Boston, USA in 1980, it has been continuously loved, holding the Guinness World Record for the "longest-running play in American history," and is performed daily in theaters across 22 cities worldwide. In Korea, it premiered under license in 2006, gaining attention by presenting an original immersive play where the audience participates and leads the story. Since 2015, the play has been renewed and performed at Daehangno Content Box.

"Shear Madness" is a unique comic detective play where the audience deduces the suspect of the "Bayer Ha" murder case that occurred upstairs from the noisy and busy Shear Madness hair salon through their own reasoning.

For the role of Jo Hojin (George), the sly but passionate owner of Shear Madness hair salon, actors Lim Jeong-gyun, who appeared in plays such as "Line 2 Tenant" and "Ten," and Lee Seung-jin, who appeared in "Room Number 13" and "Someleda," were cast.

For the lively and sexy hairdresser Jang Mi-sook (Suzy) at Shear Madness hair salon, Choi Yoon-young from plays "A Dramatic Night" and "Tempest," and Jin Hye-won, a former singer turned actress who was active in the girl group "Five Dolls," were selected. Jin Hye-won appeared in the MBC drama "She Was Pretty" and the film "Tulip Shape," and this is her first challenge on the theater stage.

For the role of Oh Joon-soo, an antique dealer with a sophisticated appearance and gentlemanly speech but with comic and dangerous elements, Kim Beon-young, who appeared in the play "Share House" and the web drama "Lee Gisang and Imam," and Kwon Young-min, who appeared in web dramas "Number Six" and "Nightmare Teacher," joined the cast.

The role of Mrs. Han Bo-hyun, a typical cultured and wealthy chatterbox living in Hannam-dong, is played by Kim Yu-ri, who appeared in plays "Jamaica Health Club" and "Suspicious Detective Agency," and Kim Ara, who appeared in "Room Number 13" and "Don't Trust Her."

The charismatic and manly veteran detective Kang Woo-jin, who possesses innate intuition and intelligence, is portrayed by Kim Kyung-ho, who appeared in plays "Room Number 13" and "Cheeky Romance," and Lim Soo-hyung, who appeared in films "Catfish" and "Ordinary People."

The role of Jo Young-min, a clumsy but pure and sincere young rookie detective, was given to rookie actors Ji Young-ho and Lee In-gyu.

"Shear Madness" will open on April 3rd and run until September 27th at Daehangno Content Box. Tickets can be reserved through Interpark Ticket, with the first ticket opening starting from March 20th.
