[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] LH announced on the 20th that it has signed a contract with the Geonhwa Consortium for the ‘Namyangju Wangsuk District Basic Plan and Basic Design Service’ and will commence the service in earnest.
After technical capability evaluation and price evaluation, LH selected the Geonhwa Consortium, consisting of Geonhwa Co., Ltd. and four other companies, as the successful bidder and signed the contract on the 20th.
Once the service begins on the 23rd, it will be carried out across a total of 18 fields, including the basic plan and district unit plan, smart city basic plan, landscape and landscaping plan, energy usage plan, basic river plan, basic design, and production of a 3D urban integrated model.
LH also plans to complete the bidding process for the basic plan and basic design services of Incheon Gyeyang, Hanam Gyosan, and Namyangju Wangsuk 2 District, which were designated last October among the 3rd phase new towns, and start the service in April.
Namyangju Wangsuk District is a key area being promoted under the government’s plan to supply 300,000 housing units in the metropolitan area. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and LH have gathered various expert opinions on the development concept through expert UCPs (Urban Concept Planners) by district and field, as well as the 3rd phase new town think tank, the New Town Forum.
Previously, LH announced a bid in December last year for the ‘Basic Plan and Detailed Design Service’ to establish a full-fledged plan and design after Namyangju Wangsuk District was designated as a public housing district in October last year.
Han Byung-hong, Head of LH Smart City Headquarters, said, “Starting with the commencement of the Namyangju Wangsuk District service, we will accelerate the promotion of the 3rd phase new town project and do our best to ensure that the supply of 300,000 housing units in the metropolitan area proceeds without any setbacks.”
