Gangseo-gu Spreads Culture of Giving Health Masks to Those in Need with 'Good Mask' Sharing Campaign
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is conducting a ‘Kind Mask’ sharing campaign to overcome COVID-19.
Health-vulnerable groups such as the elderly and those with underlying conditions face many difficulties going to pharmacies to buy masks, requiring special attention.
Accordingly, to promote a citizen culture of yielding so that masks can first go to those who really need them, the ‘I’m OK, You First’ campaign has been launched.
The district will continue the campaign with volunteers every Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at four local subway stations (Ujangsan Station, Hwagok Station, Deungchon Station, Balsan Station) until April 3.
Residents who donate spare health masks (KF80, KF94) can receive cloth masks and portable hand sanitizers in return.
Additionally, the donated kind masks will be delivered to vulnerable groups and other places in need within the community.
About 200 residents participated in the first campaign on the 18th, donating precious masks.
To ensure smooth campaign progress, volunteers are checked for fever and respiratory symptoms each time and receive prior training related to campaign activities.
A district official said, “We expect this campaign to be a small hope for those struggling due to the mask shortage,” and added, “We hope many residents will show interest and participate in the Kind Mask sharing campaign.”
