Total of 36 COVID-19 Confirmed Cases in Ulsan Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] A female national fencing athlete who participated in an international fencing competition held in Hungary has tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), while all her family members have been confirmed negative.
On the 19th, Ulsan City stated in a regular briefing, "All five family members of the 25-year-old female fencing athlete, the 33rd confirmed case in the region, including her parents, older brother, younger brother, and younger sister, tested negative for COVID-19."
According to Ulsan City, the roommate athlete and one coach classified as symptomatic also tested negative and are currently under self-quarantine.
The athlete had attended an international competition held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, from the 3rd to the 15th, and returned to Incheon International Airport.
It was confirmed that she stayed at the local accommodation from the 11th to the 13th, during which the competition was canceled. On the 13th, she reportedly developed a sore throat.
On the 14th and 15th, she flew Air France via Paris, transferred to Korean Air, and arrived at Incheon International Airport. She then traveled from Seoul Station to Ulsan Station and arrived home in Ulsan by her parents' car.
Notably, on the morning of the 16th, she visited Shin Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic in Jung-gu, Ulsan, and walked home afterward. On the 17th, she was tested at the Jung-gu Public Health Center screening clinic.
Meanwhile, a total of 36 confirmed cases have occurred in Ulsan so far, with 12 patients discharged including two on this day. Currently, 24 patients are receiving treatment in negative pressure rooms, including 18 at Ulsan University Hospital and 6 at Ulsan Municipal Nursing Hospital.
