Chosun University Dental Hospital Ranks First for Two Consecutive Years in Regional Leading Medical Institution Evaluation

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University announced on the 19th that Chosun University Dental Hospital (Hospital Director Son Mikyung) was selected as the first place again this year in the ‘Regional Leading Medical Institution Evaluation’ hosted by Gwangju Metropolitan City, following last year.

Gwangju City launched this project to discover representative medical technologies of the region, develop specialized medical tourism models, and discover and support foreign patient attraction projects, thereby building a specialized regional brand and contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.

Chosun University Dental Hospital applied with the project titled ‘Infrastructure Establishment for Dental Medical and Educational Tourism Regional Branding.’

The main contents of the project include the development of dental treatment and industry-linked products, establishment and promotion of overseas networks, and the construction and operation of an online education platform.

In particular, the establishment of the online education platform is expected to be an opportunity to create a comprehensive online system by newly establishing an online education center at Chosun University Dental Hospital, covering lifelong online education for domestic and international dentists as well as resident training.

Hospital Director Son Mikyung said, “The medical technology and overseas medical staff education network of Chosun University Dental Hospital are already recognized worldwide beyond the region,” and added, “Reflecting on the fact that university dental hospitals are education-centered medical institutions, we hope to realize the value of sharing medical care by expanding the offline educational environment to online and systematizing overseas medical staff education through this project.”

She continued, “I hope this will be a new opportunity to create a revenue base outside of hospital treatment through the linkage of education and the dental industry.”

Meanwhile, since 2017, Chosun University Dental Hospital has been the only one among 11 university dental hospitals nationwide to establish an in-hospital Dental Medical Tourism Support Center as part of the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s overseas patient attraction project. They have been conducting overseas medical staff education projects by specializing the trademark G10 IDEA (G10 International Dental Education Academy).

Recently, by continuously winning overseas medical staff training projects from the Korea Health Industry Development Institute and regional leading projects from local governments, they are conducting overseas patient attraction, overseas medical staff education projects, and local government-linked projects, which is expected to strengthen their capabilities as a global dental hospital.
