[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City is set to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the private sector. Subsidies will be provided for the installation of fast chargers.
On the 18th, the city announced that it will support private electric vehicle charging operators with subsidies totaling 150 million KRW to promote the expansion of eco-friendly vehicle charging infrastructure and improve convenience for electric vehicle users.
The support targets private charging operators at private convenience facilities such as apartments, gas stations, convenience stores, franchise restaurants, and coffee shops (those registered as electric vehicle charging operators under the Electric Utility Act or those who have commissioned installation to specialized charging equipment companies). Additionally, to receive support, parking spaces capable of installing fast chargers must be secured.
Subsidy support will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis when the eligible operators are selected as recipients of the Korea Energy Agency’s ‘2020 Electric Vehicle Charging Service Industry Promotion Project’ and submit a subsidy application to the city after completing the installation of fast chargers.
Applications will be accepted from the 23rd until the project budget is exhausted, and application documents should be submitted by mail to the city’s Fine Dust Response Division.
For detailed information such as eligibility and application forms, please refer to the announcement on the city’s website or contact the Fine Dust Response Division for guidance.
Choi Jeong-hee, head of the city’s Fine Dust Response Division, stated, “Through this project, we aim to resolve inconveniences faced by citizens using electric vehicles,” adding, “The city will continue to strive to rapidly expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure within the region.”
