[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] On the 17th, Lee Jun-seok, Supreme Council Member of the United Future Party, stated that the conflict between Representative Hwang Kyo-ahn and Han Sun-kyo, Representative of the Future Korea Party, is escalating as the Future United Party's recruited talents are pushed out of the winning zone on the Future Korea Party's proportional representation candidate list, calling it "a predictable scenario of satellite party nomination conflicts."
Lee appeared on CBS Radio's 'Sisa Jaki Jung Kwan-yong' on the same day and said, "It seems that things are moving in a different direction than what was previously agreed upon with Representative Hwang."
He continued, "The Future Korea Party is holding a Supreme Council meeting and requesting a reconsideration from the Nomination Management Committee, but their position is to request reconsideration only for some individuals, not the entire list," adding, "Ultimately, the issue will be whether the talents recruited by the United Future Party, who are placed on the lower priority list, are assigned to a stable winning position."
He further stated, "In fact, regardless of the outcome, those directly involved in the recruitment process, such as Representative Hwang or Yeom Dong-ryeol, Chairman of the United Future Party's Talent Committee, are likely to be dissatisfied," and assessed, "Therefore, there is concern that this conflict situation may continue."
He also added, "The source of the vote-getting power that the Future Korea Party can obtain actually comes from the supporters of the United Future Party, but given Representative Hwang's strong opposition, it will be difficult for Chairman Gong Byung-ho of the Korea Party to maintain the original plan despite his claims of independence."
Meanwhile, the Future Korea Party, a satellite party for proportional representation of the United Future Party, selected 40 final candidates for proportional representation nominations out of 513 applicants on the 16th. However, the list sparked controversy as the majority of the 'general election talents' strategically recruited by the United Future Party were excluded.
