[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Seoul Donhwamun Gugakdang will hold the March planned performance "Undang Inn Concert" as an online live broadcast due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The "Undang Inn Concert" is scheduled for its first performance on the 19th, but the COVID-19 "serious" alert level is still in effect. Accordingly, Seoul Donhwamun Gugakdang decided to live stream the "Undang Inn Concert" online as part of practicing social distancing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The "Undang Inn Concert" will be simultaneously broadcast on the official Seoul Donhwamun Gugakdang channel as well as the portal site Naver TV. Seoul Donhwamun Gugakdang stated that it worked to improve the live broadcast video in collaboration with Gugak Broadcasting.
The "Undang Inn Concert" is named after the hanok inn "Undang Inn," which was actually operated on Donhwamun-ro by the late master singer Park Gwi-hee, holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property No. 23 Gayageum Sanjo and Byeongchang. Undang Inn was a beloved gathering place and hideout for artists visiting Jongno from the 1950s to the 1980s.
This "Undang Inn Concert" will feature notable young gugak teams such as Ip and Son Studio and the music group Namu, showcasing the fresh charm of gugak through diverse performances including instrumental and vocal music. Additionally, a conversation session will be held where audiences can hear various stories about the artists' musical worlds and creative processes.
The "Undang Inn Concert" will be performed from the 19th to the 29th on Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 PM, and on Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM. It can be viewed on the portal site Naver TV, V Live, and the Seoul Donhwamun Gugakdang Facebook channel.
