[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) has purchased flowerpots containing flowers and succulents to support small business owners in the local floriculture industry who are struggling due to COVID-19, and promoted placing one flowerpot on each desk in the Gwangjin-gu Office Civil Service Room.

Recently, due to the impact of COVID-19, events such as entrance and graduation ceremonies and weddings have been canceled, leading to a decrease in the consumption of flowers and plants, causing significant economic difficulties for small business owners in the local floriculture industry.

To address this issue, the district purchased flowerpots containing flowers and succulents from local retail flower shops and placed one on each desk of all employees in the civil service room, which is frequently visited by civil petitioners.

Additionally, the initiative to place one flowerpot per desk is expected to help create a pleasant and fresh environment in the civil service room by reducing fine dust and air pollution.

Along with this, the district provided education to employees on how to care for the flowerpots and plans to replace the flowers and plants monthly by repotting the initially purchased flowerpots.

Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, "Through this initiative of placing one flowerpot on each desk in the civil service room, I hope it will provide some support to small business owners in the local floriculture industry who are facing difficulties due to COVID-19," and added, "I also expect that the flowerpots on the desks will offer a small healing to visitors who are mentally and physically exhausted due to COVID-19."
