Dobong-gu Urgently Provides 3,000 Masks to Infection-Vulnerable Groups Including Pregnant Women

Dobong-gu Urgently Provides 3,000 Masks to Infection-Vulnerable Groups Including Pregnant Women Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Dobong-gu (center front), held an emergency meeting with postpartum care center directors and COVID-19 officials on the 16th.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dong-jin Lee) urgently provided three KF94 masks per person to about 1,000 high-risk groups for infection, including pregnant women, on the 16th to prevent COVID-19.

Currently, a five-day mask purchase system is in place, but due to limited purchase dates and quantities, pregnant women who are vulnerable to infection and have difficulty standing for long periods, as well as recipients of rare disease medical expense support, face many difficulties in purchasing masks.

Accordingly, the district urgently secured 3,000 masks on its own and prioritized providing masks to 837 pregnant women and 163 recipients of rare disease medical expense support, who are vulnerable to infection. A notification text message about mask delivery was sent to the relevant recipients, and three KF94 masks per person were delivered to their homes starting from the 16th through the community center account holders of each neighborhood.

Subsequently, the district plans to distribute additional masks to all pregnant women in the area according to Seoul City's mask support plan.

Along with this, on the 16th, the district held an emergency meeting with the directors of three postpartum care centers operating in the area to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect high-risk groups such as mothers and newborns from infection.

At the meeting, measures to prevent COVID-19 were discussed, including controlling visitors to postpartum care centers, prohibiting external contact and overlapping shifts of employees, and disinfection activities within the facilities.

Mayor Dong-jin Lee of Dobong-gu said, “Dobong-gu is currently prioritizing mask support for vulnerable groups such as daycare centers, kindergartens, pregnant women, and rare disease patients,” and added, “We will protect the health of vulnerable residents by providing masks to pregnant women and rare disease patients at high risk of infection, and thoroughly prepare to prevent the safety of mothers and newborns and the spread of COVID-19 in the community through meetings with postpartum care center officials.”
