[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Shoo (38, real name Yoo Soo-young), a former member of the group SES, who was sentenced to a suspended sentence for overseas gambling, has tenants of a house he owns facing a credit crisis.

According to an MBC Newsdesk report on the 16th, a creditor who lent gambling funds to Shoo placed a provisional seizure on a multi-family house in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, owned by Shoo, causing tenants to be unable to receive their jeonse deposits and fall into hardship.

One tenant said, "At the time of the contract, Shoo appeared on broadcasts, so I thought there would be no problem," and stated that they are in a situation where they might become credit delinquents.

He added, "I borrowed 92 million won from the bank and gave Shoo 115 million won as a jeonse deposit," and lamented, "The landlord Shoo unilaterally notified me that he could not return about 100 million won of the jeonse deposit."

In response, Shoo's side stated, "If we win the lawsuit to cancel the provisional seizure, we will help the tenants and resolve the issue as soon as possible," adding, "We are making efforts and will continue to do so to resolve this diligently."

MBC reported, "Since the outcome of the lawsuit is uncertain and Shoo's side only repeatedly asks tenants to wait without fulfilling the obligation to return the deposit, only the tenants are suffering in silence."

They also added, "Other tenants are in the same situation," and "Out of 21 households, 2 households have vacated their homes without receiving their jeonse deposits."

Meanwhile, Shoo was indicted in February on charges of habitual gambling amounting to a total of 790 million won in places such as Macau from August 2016 to May last year. The court sentenced Shoo to six months in prison with a two-year suspension and 80 hours of community service. At that time, Shoo expressed remorse, saying, "I was horrified by how I was changing. Through the punishment, I escaped the swamp and will live well without forgetting."
