Closure of MGM Casino in Las Vegas, USA Due to COVID-19 Impact

[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), large casinos in Las Vegas, USA, have also decided to close.


On the 15th (local time), according to foreign media, the large American resort group MGM decided to close its Las Vegas casinos and hotels due to the COVID-19 outbreak.


Jim Murren, chairman of MGM Resorts, stated in a press release that "It has become clear that this is a public health crisis requiring significant collective action to slow the spread of (COVID-19)."


He added, "For the safety of employees, guests, and the community, we plan to close all buildings starting from the 17th and will reopen once safety is ensured."


Meanwhile, the areas with COVID-19 cases in the United States have expanded nationwide, covering 49 states except West Virginia and Washington D.C.
