Songpa-gu Publishes '2020 Welfare Project Guide'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) has published the '2020 Welfare Project Guide' to help residents more easily access various welfare services.

The 'Welfare Project Guide' is a comprehensive welfare manual compiled by Songpa-gu, gathering essential welfare services for residents into one volume.

Recently, welfare services have become increasingly diversified by class and sector, and as demand has grown, the responsible departments and operational methods have also become more specialized. Despite the numerous welfare services available, there have been cases where people could not benefit due to lack of information.

In response, Songpa-gu has published the 'Welfare Project Guide' every year, encompassing the latest welfare services and information. It is used not only to enhance convenience for residents but also for counseling and guidance work by frontline social welfare practitioners.

The 300-page booklet contains the latest information on major welfare projects in seven areas: ▲low-income residents ▲elderly ▲disabled ▲women, children, and youth ▲housing ▲employment ▲healthcare.

First, the district updated information on 70 welfare projects promoted by 12 departments, including the Welfare Policy Division, Senior Welfare Division, Job Policy Officer, and Health Center. It includes legally available welfare benefit standards as well as various welfare services residents can enjoy. In addition to public welfare, it also lists welfare resources provided by private welfare organizations.

Along with this, the 'Songpa Welfare Map' allows easy at-a-glance access to the locations and information of major social welfare institutions in the area. Furthermore, the crisis response manual has been strengthened so that social welfare practitioners can respond immediately to various crisis situations such as solitary deaths and domestic violence.

The district distributed 400 copies of the 'Welfare Project Guide' to public institutions including the district office and community service centers, as well as private welfare organizations.

Additionally, to allow residents to conveniently access welfare information anytime, the guide will be posted in e-book format on the Songpa-gu website.

Moreover, the district plans to publish the 'Useful Case Management Guide' later this month. This is a supplementary booklet containing the experiences and know-how of public and private case management practitioners.

Together with the 'Welfare Project Guide,' it is expected to help strengthen Songpa-gu’s welfare service capabilities.

Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “We are considering various measures to ensure that everyone can more easily access welfare services and enjoy their benefits,” adding, “We will build a stronger welfare safety net so that residents can tangibly feel an improvement in their quality of life.”
