[Asia Economy reporters Lee Ji-eun and Kim Hye-min] The United Future Party appointed former Innovation and Integration Promotion Committee (Hyuktongwi) Chairman Park Hyung-jun and Sookmyung Women's University professor Shin Se-don as co-chief campaign chairs, replacing former Democratic Party emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in. The nomination of former Macquarie Investment Asset Management CEO Choi Hong, which sparked controversy over 'Sacheon' by former Public Official Candidate Committee Chairman Kim Hyung-o, was nullified by the Supreme Council.

On the 16th, Sim Jae-cheol, the United Future Party floor leader, met with reporters at the National Assembly right after declaring his candidacy for Anyang Dongan District in Gyeonggi Province and said, "Both former Chairman Park and Professor Shin have been appointed," adding, "Party leader Hwang Kyo-ahn will serve as the overall campaign chair, and the two will serve as co-chief campaign chairs." Earlier, the party had seriously considered former emergency committee chairman Kim as a campaign chair, but disagreements over the co-chief campaign chair system led Kim to decline.

The United Future Party will launch the campaign committee from today and begin full-scale election preparations. Earlier, at the Supreme Council meeting, Party Leader Hwang said, "The party will operate under the campaign committee system starting today, and the newly formed campaign committee will be an economic and national revival campaign committee," taking on the role of overall chair.

Former CEO Choi, who was involved in the nomination controversy linked to former Public Official Candidate Committee Chairman Kim, had his nomination nullified at the Supreme Council meeting today. Floor leader Sim said, "Due to a history of sanctions and penalties from the Financial Supervisory Service, the nomination was canceled according to party regulations," adding, "This was canceled at the Supreme Council level, not referred back to the Public Official Candidate Committee."
