Hampyeong-gun Produces 'Health Masks' at Local Workplace for Disabled Workers

Ministry of Health and Welfare Oversees Final Selection for 'Disability Vocational Rehabilitation Facility Function Enhancement Contest'

Hampyeong-gun Produces 'Health Masks' at Local Workplace for Disabled Workers

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hampyeong-gun (Acting County Governor Na Yunsu) will begin full-scale production of health masks through the local disabled workers' workplace, Mujigae Workers' Workplace.

According to Hampyeong-gun on the 16th, the Hampyeong Mujigae Disabled Workers' Workplace, located in the region, was recently selected as the final winner of the "Disabled Vocational Rehabilitation Facility Function Enhancement Contest Project" hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

This project supports disabled workers' workplaces by providing safety equipment for facility safety management, expanding small-scale facilities, and reinforcing vocational rehabilitation facility equipment.

The county plans to newly establish a mask production line within the facility using the secured project funds and, after approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, produce an average of about 10,000 adult and children's health masks (KF94·KF80) per day.

To this end, the county intends to promptly complete administrative procedures such as filing a manufacturing business report with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as soon as the mask production facility is equipped, selecting a manufacturing manager, filing patents, and developing mask designs.

Na Yunsu, Acting County Governor of Hampyeong-gun, said, "Although the mask 5-day rotation system has been fully implemented and the mask supply situation has somewhat stabilized, the absolute supply quantity is still insufficient," adding, "We expect positive ripple effects on local mask supply and disabled persons' income improvement by producing masks at the local disabled workers' workplace through this contest project."

Meanwhile, the Mujigae Disabled Workers' Workplace, independently operated by Hampyeong-gun to create jobs and improve income for disabled persons, currently employs 21 disabled individuals producing copy paper, paper cups, and other items.

However, recently, as raw material prices such as copy paper supply costs have risen and the Ministry of Environment has strengthened restrictions on single-use items, there have been continuous calls for diversifying production items to generate profits.
