[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The UK government is considering a plan to isolate people aged 70 and over for several months to reduce the damage caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 15th (local time), according to local media, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said in an interview, in response to the question "Will those aged 70 and over be isolated for several months?" that "vulnerable groups to the virus, including the elderly, may be required to self-isolate," adding, "It is still in the planning stage, and specific measures will be announced when the time comes."
Secretary Hancock stated, "It is very difficult for those subjected to isolation measures, but on the other hand, it is also a way to protect themselves," and added, "It is not an easy task, but the government cannot avoid preparing for it."
Regarding the timing of the announcement, he replied, "The government will announce related measures within a few weeks."
