The phrase "Pause for a Moment" shone on the wall of Jeongneung 2-dong Community Center. The Jeongneung 2-dong Community Center installed this logo light to raise residents' awareness of the "Pause for a Moment" campaign and encourage voluntary participation in response to the spread of COVID-19.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The phrase ‘Jamshi Meomchum’ (Pause for a Moment) shone brightly on the wall of the Jeongneung 2-dong Community Center in Seongbuk-gu.
‘Jamshi Meomchum’ is an infection control campaign aimed at maintaining distance between people to prevent or slow the spread of highly contagious diseases, known as an effective method in responding to COVID-19.
The Jeongneung 2-dong Community Center filled its wall with the ‘Jamshi Meomchum’ message by utilizing the existing logo light to raise residents’ awareness and encourage voluntary participation.
The logo light message consists of the ‘Jamshi Meomchum’ practice guidelines: “We will refrain from going out and postpone gatherings to avoid meeting others. We will communicate via phone, internet, and SNS, keeping our bodies apart but hearts close with acquaintances. We will always follow personal hygiene rules by wearing masks and washing hands wherever and whenever.”
A resident who saw the logo light on the community center wall on their way home said, “I thought about how important the interest and participation of ordinary citizens are, along with the efforts of medical staff and public officials working hard to overcome COVID-19,” and added, “I hope everyone joins in so we can overcome this crisis.”
Seongbuk-gu Mayor Seungro Lee said, “Social distancing can slow the spread of COVID-19, block the possibility of virus transmission, end the epidemic, and reduce the demand for quarantine supplies by minimizing outdoor activities, among other benefits,” and expressed hope that “with various efforts by the administration, including the Jeongneung 2-dong Community Center, residents’ participation will further expand.”
The Jeongneung 2-dong Community Center’s logo light was installed in 2019 through the resident participation budget to deliver messages of hope to the increasingly harsh local community and help heal residents’ emotions. From 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., it displays phrases such as “Cheering you on, stay strong today too!” and “You are the protagonist on the stage called life,” receiving praise for comforting local small business owners and residents affected by the recent COVID-19 impact.
