[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) conducted disinfection and closed the food court on the basement first floor of the Galleria Department Store West Building on Apgujeong-ro, Gangnam-gu, for one day on the 12th, following an epidemiological investigation of a confirmed case that occurred in Seongbuk-gu, revealing that the confirmed patient had visited the location.
District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun stated in a briefing, "The 34-year-old confirmed patient living on Seongbuk-ro 4-gil in Seongbuk-gu is an employee working at a fashion company located on Apgujeong-ro. After a business trip to Berlin, Germany, and Paris, France, from the 25th of last month for 12 days, the patient returned and tested positive on the 11th. The epidemiological investigation revealed that the patient visited two restaurants in the food court on the basement first floor of the Galleria Department Store West Building twice: around 8 p.m. on the 8th and around 11:30 a.m. on the 9th."
Accordingly, Gangnam-gu conducted disinfection of the entire 230-pyeong food court on the basement first floor on the afternoon of the 11th and ordered a voluntary closure for one day on the 12th. Additionally, one close contact at the restaurant was placed under self-quarantine and underwent specimen testing.
Gangnam-gu has generally refrained from disclosing exact business names or lot numbers when revealing confirmed patients' movement paths. However, since the Galleria Department Store is a multi-use facility frequented by many residents and customers, and the confirmed patient visited twice, the district obtained prior consent from the business to disclose the name for the health and safety of residents and customers, and asks for understanding regarding this announcement.
Mayor Jeong advised, "If any customers or residents who visited the basement first floor food court of the Galleria Department Store during the same time on the 8th and 9th experience symptoms such as fever, cough, or sore throat, or wish to be tested, they are encouraged to visit the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center for specimen testing."
