[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] No Seung-il, former deputy director of the K-Sports Foundation and known as the 'Choi Soon-sil sniper,' recruited by the Minsheng Party, declared his candidacy for Gwangsan District, Gwangju, on the 12th.
No held a press conference at the Gwangju City Council briefing room on the same day and stated, "Seeing the mudslinging nomination battles among the Democratic Party candidates, rampant black propaganda, and lawsuits, I came to believe that the Democratic Party alone cannot prevent the revival of the state power abuse forces," explaining his reason for joining the Minsheng Party.
No said, "We cannot stop the revival of the corrupt forces behind the state power abuse by engaging in fierce battles with the mindset of 'just plant the flag and win.' Although the Moon Jae-in government was born from the Candlelight Revolution, it has failed to institutionalize the reforms that the candlelight citizens so desperately wanted," criticizing the government.
No pointed out, "The state power abuse forces I risked my life to expose are attempting to transform and revive by merely changing their names, taking advantage of the Moon Jae-in government's economic failures and the COVID-19 pandemic."
No added, "In Gwangju, the Minsheng Party and the Democratic Party must compete fiercely and cooperate to create a clean and fair society, which is the hope of the candlelight citizens. Therefore, I intend to run as the Minsheng Party candidate for Gwangsan District in the general election," and asked, "I kindly request the interest and support of the citizens of Gwangju and the residents of Gwangsan-gu."
