Lotte.com "Increase in Home Party Supplies Sales Ahead of White Day"

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] As White Day approaches, the number of people preparing home parties has increased. This is analyzed to reflect the atmosphere of refraining from outdoor activities due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).


According to Lotte.com on the 12th, sales of easy-to-cook meals for home parties increased by up to 118% compared to the previous week from the 5th to the 11th. In particular, there were many orders for 'Ashley Chef Box' original Chicago pizza and Cheese Lover Mexican Potato, which allow customers to recreate dishes tasted at the family restaurant 'Ashley'.


In addition, meal kit orders for dishes such as mille-feuille nabe for two servings, double cheddar hamburger steak, gambas al ajillo, and malatang, which can be easily prepared, were also high.


At Lotte Mart, meal kit-related sales increased by up to 41.5% compared to the previous week during the same period, and wine sales also rose by 14.2%. Additionally, at the H&B store LOBs, sales of party fancy goods surged by 284%.


Ahead of White Day, Lotte Department Store is receiving positive responses for two sparkling wines, 'Gancia Premium Moscato d'Asti' and 'Ruffino Prosecco'. Along with this, a brand day event is underway until the 15th, offering up to 10% discount on popular jewelry items such as pendants and earrings from the Swarovski brand.


There has also been an increase in cases where people express their love to their girlfriends using the online 'Gift' function. At Lotte.com, items such as 'Swarovski Rose Gold Earrings' and 'Tissot Lovely Square Watch' have gained popularity, and jewelry sales through the gift service have risen by up to 46% compared to the previous week over the past week.
