...Full Survey on Closure Status of 932 Hagwons; 8 Large Hagwons in Noryangjin Closed Until the 15th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) is conducting emergency inspections of multi-use facilities such as karaoke rooms and PC rooms to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the local community.
Recently, due to the postponement of elementary, middle, and high school openings and the closure of academies, infection cases have occurred through multi-use facilities frequently used by teenagers, such as karaoke rooms and PC rooms.
Accordingly, the district is pushing forward with emergency inspections of a total of 300 businesses, including 175 karaoke rooms and 125 PC rooms in the area.
First, a telephone inspection was conducted on the 10th, and by the 12th, 50 district office employees in 25 teams will conduct on-site inspections of all businesses.
The inspection items include ▲whether disinfection is being carried out ▲disinfection of items ▲availability of hand sanitizers ▲posting of preventive guidelines ▲presence of resident staff ▲whether the business is closed, and social distancing by leaving one seat empty is recommended.
In particular, 26 unmanned coin karaoke rooms with cramped spaces and poor management will be intensively inspected, and if preventive action guidelines are not followed, immediate corrective measures will be taken against the owners.
Also, for small businesses that have difficulty purchasing disinfection supplies, in consultation with related associations, 11 hub businesses by region will be designated, and a total of 22 self-disinfection machines (2 per hub) will be supported.
Businesses wishing to disinfect can visit the regional hub businesses to borrow disinfection supplies (self-disinfection machines, disinfectants), and disinfection supplies can also be borrowed at the local community centers and health centers outside the hub businesses.
Along with this, the district is monitoring the closure of 932 academies (tutoring centers) in the area daily. As of the 10th, 419 academies, accounting for 45% of all academies, are closed, and eight large academies in Noryangjin with more than 300 students are participating in the closure until the 15th.
Based on the monitoring results, academies that have not closed will be advised to ▲close ▲comply with preventive guidelines ▲participate in social distancing.
Changwoo Lee, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “We will do our utmost to continuously inspect and promote disinfection to prevent the spread through blind spots of COVID-19 infection,” and “We ask residents for their voluntary participation in practicing social distancing.”
