[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Tesla has announced plans to build its second production facility in the United States. This will be Tesla's fourth Gigafactory following those in the U.S., China, and Germany, where pickup trucks and the SUV model Y are expected to be produced.

On the 10th (local time), Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, revealed on Twitter that they are scouting locations for a new factory in the U.S. to produce the upcoming pickup truck and Model Y.

According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), in an email sent to WSJ, Musk stated, "While (state government) incentives will play the biggest role, options such as logistics costs, accessibility to a capable large workforce, and quality of life must also be considered."

Earlier, in January, former President Donald Trump said in an interview with CNBC, "I spoke with Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, and Tesla is planning to build a very large factory in the U.S."

On the same day, Musk tweeted that the factory is planned to be built in the U.S. Midwest. This region is where competitors Ford and General Motors (GM) have been driving high sales.

Meanwhile, Musk also announced on Twitter that Tesla has produced its one millionth electric vehicle 17 years after its founding. Tesla operates factories not only in Fremont, U.S., but also in Shanghai, China, and recently began construction of a factory in Berlin, Germany.
