Free Meal Service Suspended to Prevent COVID-19 Infection; Rice Ball Lunchboxes Delivered to Homeless with Volunteer Group 'Jabireul Nareuneun Surekkeun' to Address Food Insecurity
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) delivered rice ball lunch boxes made in collaboration with the volunteer group ‘Jabi-reul Nareuneun Surekkun’ to homeless people at risk of food shortage, following the suspension of free meal services to prevent COVID-19 infection.
On the 10th, members of Jabi-reul Nareuneun Surekkun carefully prepared rice balls from the morning, wishing for the health and safety of all residents, and personally delivered them to homeless people while visiting various locations in the city center, including Bosingak.
They also conveyed messages of encouragement to overcome the difficult situation caused by COVID-19 together.
In addition, Jongno-gu is actively implementing infection prevention measures such as providing hand sanitizers and masks to homeless people on the streets who are relatively vulnerable to information, and checking their body temperature.
Furthermore, hand sanitizers and masks are being provided to residents of small rooms in areas such as Donui-dong and Changsin-dong, and disinfection efforts in these areas have been strengthened. Disinfection of the small room villages is conducted at least once a week.
In particular, the small room counseling center disinfects the interior of the building daily and thoroughly informs visiting residents about infectious disease prevention guidelines.
District Mayor Kim Young-jong stated, “We will do our best to ensure that all residents can live in a healthy and safe environment by making every effort until the nationwide chaos caused by COVID-19 is resolved.”
