[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Gas Safety Corporation announced on the 10th that it will extend the suspension period of the Gas Safety Training Center's courses, which were halted due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Gas Safety Training Center located in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, initially canceled 19 courses and retests scheduled from the 25th of last month to the 13th, based on the enrollment date, as the COVID-19 crisis alert was raised to the severe level.
Subsequently, as the COVID-19 situation prolonged, an additional 8 courses scheduled from the 16th to the 20th, based on the enrollment date, were also canceled.
To receive a refund for course fees, applicants can apply through the Korea Gas Safety Corporation's Cyber Branch website. Students wishing to postpone their courses can contact the training center for guidance.
The Industrial Gas Safety Technology Support Center in Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk, also decided to cancel 5 courses that were scheduled for March.
All future scheduled courses will be tentatively canceled until the crisis alert level is lowered to the caution stage or further notice is given.
Regional headquarters and branches will also temporarily suspend training operations during the same period as the Industrial Gas Safety Technology Support Center and will consider postponing future courses according to regional circumstances. Detailed information can be found on the Cyber Branch website.
A corporation official stated, "Once the COVID-19 situation enters a stabilization phase, we will resume training as quickly as possible," adding, "We plan to separately review additional course offerings considering the demand for the courses that have been canceled so far."
