COVID-19 Relief Donations Total 77.4 Billion Won as of the 10th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Samsung and Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association have supported 480,000 KF94 small masks for children in vulnerable households in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas, where the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is the highest.
Samsung and Hope Bridge announced on the 10th that they delivered 350,000 masks to Daegu City Hall and 130,000 masks to Gyeongbuk Provincial Office, respectively. The masks provided this time were prepared for children in disaster-vulnerable households who have low immunity and are at high risk of COVID-19 infection but have difficulty purchasing masks due to economic hardship.
On the 9th, 5-ton and 11-ton transport vehicles loaded with masks departed from the Paju Disaster Relief Logistics Center and headed to Gyeongbuk Provincial Office and Daegu City Hall, respectively. The relief supplies that arrived at Daegu Stadium that day were unloaded with the help of members of the Hope Bridge Special Mission Rescue Team Daegu Branch.
Earlier, on the 26th of last month, Samsung donated 30 billion won to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association to overcome COVID-19. This donation will be used to prepare relief supplies such as quarantine masks, daily necessities kits for self-quarantined and vulnerable groups, and immunity enhancement kits for medical staff.
Meanwhile, donations sent from various sectors to overcome COVID-19 together have reached 77.4 billion won as of 3 p.m. that day. The Asan Foundation donated 2 billion won, Mirae Asset, Doosan, Shinsegae, CJ, Hana Financial Group each donated 1 billion won, Dunamu donated 500 million won, Korea Alcohol Industry donated 200 million won, and Yeonhap Precision donated 10 million won.
Famous stars such as broadcasters Yoo Jae-suk, Lee Young-ja, Lee Kyung-kyu, actors Song Kang-ho, Kim Hye-soo, Jun Ji-hyun, Han Hyo-joo, Song Joong-ki, film director Bong Joon-ho, singer Kim Jong-kook, Big Bang member T.O.P, and BTS member Suga also actively participated in the sharing relay.
