[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Marvel Studios' first film of 2020, 'Black Widow,' has confirmed its North American release date and unveiled the main trailer and poster.
As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads worldwide, causing many anticipated releases to be postponed, 'Black Widow' is expected to premiere in North America as scheduled on May 1.
On the 9th (local time), Disney announced the May 1 release by releasing the final trailer of 'Black Widow' on Marvel Studios' official YouTube channel.
The released trailer depicts Black Widow (played by Scarlett Johansson) meeting Yelena Belova (played by Florence Pugh), Melina Vostokoff (played by Rachel Weisz), and Alexei Shostakov (played by David Harbour), who are presumed to be her family. It also hints at the previously unrevealed Red Room project, sparking fans' curiosity.
Previously, Walt Disney Company Korea announced that 'Black Widow' would be released domestically in April, but due to the spread of COVID-19, the domestic release date has not been finalized.
Meanwhile, 'Black Widow' is the first solo movie of Natasha Romanoff, an original member of the Avengers, and has been highly anticipated by fans even before its release. The film will depict Black Widow's story between 'Captain America: Civil War' and 'Avengers: Infinity War.'
Famous Hollywood actors Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, and Rachel Weisz star in the film, which is directed by Kate Shortland, who previously directed 'Lore' and 'Berlin Syndrome.'
