"United Party and Shincheonji Cannot Stop COVID as They Are"
"Source of All Disasters, Must Be Thrown into History's Garbage Dump"
Future United Party leader Hwang Kyo-ahn is wearing a KF94 mask at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the 9th. Regarding the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), North Korea claimed on the 10th that the United Future Party and Shincheonji have a long-standing collusive relationship, and that in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the United Future Party and Shincheonji should not be left as they are.
North Korea's anti-South propaganda outlet 'Uriminzokkiri' mentioned the current status of COVID-19 spread in South Korea in an article titled "The Collusive Relationship with Shincheonji, Whose Dark Secrets Are Being Exposed," stating, "The public opinion now unanimously asserts that the spread of COVID-19 cannot be stopped by leaving Shincheonji and the United Future Party as they are."
The outlet pointed out that Shincheonji is not cooperating with South Korea's quarantine authorities, saying, "The United Future Party faction, reflecting public sentiment, is constantly disputing the current authorities' rightful measures against Shincheonji by saying things like 'Responsibility should not be pushed onto a specific religious group,' thereby defending and shielding the main culprits of this group infection incident."
Uriminzokkiri questioned, "Why do the United Future Party faction continue to protect this cult group even amid the grim situation where the number of infections related to Shincheonji is rapidly increasing and fear and anxiety about the spread of COVID-19 are growing day by day?" and asserted, "It is because the United Future Party and this cult group are one and the same."
The outlet raised its voice, saying, "Ultimately, the United Future Party's true intention is to save the 'one body - Shincheonji' at all costs, regardless of what happens to the lives of South Korean residents," and "The United Future Party is showing itself to be a group of immoral and depraved people who do not hesitate to do anything to realize their power ambitions, a barbaric group."
On the afternoon of the 9th, a notice prohibiting the entry of Shincheonji followers was posted at the entrance of the Full Gospel Gangnam Church in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
On the same day, another external propaganda outlet 'Mea-ri' also criticized Shincheonji and the United Future Party collectively in an article titled "The Loyalty of a Pseudo-Party to a Pseudo-Religion."
Mea-ri stated, "The collusive relationship between the United Future Party and Shincheonji is well known," and emphasized, "It is a thousand and one times correct conclusion that the United Future Party, the root of all disasters that should have been thoroughly swept away with Park Geun-hye's impeachment, must now be thrown into the dustbin of history."
Meanwhile, as the COVID-19 situation spreads, the United Future Party is showing signs of actively distancing itself from Shincheonji.
The United Future Party announced that it had filed a complaint against Pastor Shin Hyun-wook, who gave a media interview on the 9th claiming that "Shincheonji believers joined the Grand National Party (the predecessor of the United Future Party) en masse under the direction of Shincheonji Chairman Lee Man-hee," on charges of false information disclosure under the Public Official Election Act.
United Future Party leader Hwang Kyo-ahn also warned at the National Assembly's Supreme Council meeting on the 2nd, "We sternly request Shincheonji. False reporting or non-cooperation with the authorities must never be done."
There have been rumors that Shincheonji had relations with the Saenuri Party, the predecessor of the United Future Party, but the United Future Party has actively denied them.
The United Future Party also sued Chairman Lee Man-hee for defamation due to the spread of false information.
Recently, some former Shincheonji members claimed through the media, "Right after the Saenuri Party's name was finalized in 2012, Chairman Lee Man-hee proudly said from the pulpit that 'I came up with the name Saenuri Party.'"
The United Future Party stated, "The name Saenuri Party was decided through a public contest and by gathering opinions from inside and outside the party," and announced that it will take legal action against those who try to influence the April 15 general election with false information related to the party name.
