Cha Hyeon-il, Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor, Conducts Safety Inspections at 62 Sites Including Construction Zones During Thawing Season

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) will complete inspections of a total of 62 locations, including construction sites and safety-vulnerable facilities where safety accidents are a concern during the thawing season, by March to protect the lives and safety of residents and workers.

The thawing season is when daytime temperatures rise sharply, causing moisture frozen underground during winter to melt, weakening the ground and increasing the risk of accidents such as falling rocks and collapses.

Accordingly, the district will directly inspect 30 construction sites, 17 safety-vulnerable facilities (D and E grades), 8 steep slopes, and 7 public facilities to proactively prevent safety accidents.

The district forms safety management teams of two people per facility management department to visit sites directly and carefully check for safety defects based on inspection checklists. For facilities with a high risk of safety accidents, joint inspections with external experts are conducted.

Minor issues found during inspections are immediately addressed on-site, and in cases of high accident risk, detailed safety diagnoses are conducted followed by repairs and reinforcements.

Inspection results are registered in the Seoul Safety Inspection Integrated Management System for continuous monitoring and thorough follow-up management.

Additionally, when inspecting construction sites, the district checks for the availability of quarantine supplies and urges compliance with behavioral guidelines, making every effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

On the morning of the 9th, Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Chae Hyun-il visited construction sites in Singil-dong and Yeoui-dong to check for safety hazards and urged construction officials to ensure the safety of residents and workers.
