Bundang Seoul National University Hospital Staff Confirmed Positive... Seongnam City "Shincheonji Believer Confirmed"

On the afternoon of the 9th, visitors entering Building 1 of Bundang Seoul National University Hospital in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. Bundang Seoul National University Hospital closed the Pain Center on the 2nd basement floor of Building 1 this morning after a staff member in the Pain Center guidance department tested positive for COVID-19.

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] One employee at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) on the 9th. The hospital closed the center where the patient had been and suspended medical services. The Seongnam city authorities revealed that the patient is a member of the Shincheonji Church.

Seongnam city posted on Facebook that "an employee of Bundang Seoul National University Hospital tested positive at 9 a.m. today." The patient is a 36-year-old woman residing in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province. The city added that after cross-checking with the Shincheonji membership list, they confirmed she is a member.

A hospital official stated, "A guide staff member of the Pain Center tested positive, so the Pain Center has been closed and outpatient services are suspended," adding, "The patient is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital." The hospital has nationally designated inpatient treatment beds, and six patients were already hospitalized and receiving treatment before this patient was admitted.

The employee reportedly worked until the 6th. According to the first epidemiological investigation conducted after the positive diagnosis, about 36 close contacts were identified, who will undergo self-quarantine followed by virus diagnostic testing.
