Cheong, Changes Mask Guidelines "Cloth Masks Recommended Except in Special Cases"

No Masks Required for Private Car Commuters and General Attendees at Onsite Meetings... "Cheong Wa Dae SuBo Meeting Held in Video Conference Room"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] Yoon Jae-kwan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Blue House, stated on the 9th, "According to the Korea Food and Drug Administration's mask usage recommendations, the Blue House's mask-wearing guidelines for employees have been changed," adding, "Except for special cases requiring the use of medical masks, the general recommendation is to use cloth masks."

Deputy Spokesperson Yoon said, "When commuting by private car, when entering through Yeonpungmun Gate, moving within the premises, during work, and for general attendees of meetings within the premises, wearing a mask is not necessary," but added, "However, main speakers at meetings within the premises and those using public transportation for commuting should continue to wear masks as before."

The Blue House will continue to conduct temperature checks and hand sanitization when entering through Yeonpungmun Gate and other entry points as before. Starting from the 9th, the Chief Presidential Secretary meeting presided over by the President will be held in the video conference room to expand the distance between participants. The Blue House has applied these behavioral guidelines since 5 p.m. on the 6th.

Meanwhile, the Korea Food and Drug Administration recommends the use of medical masks for high-risk groups with underlying conditions who have a risk of infection, such as contact with suspected infected persons. However, in situations where the risk of infection is low or medical masks are unavailable, using cloth masks is also helpful, and wearing masks is not necessary in uncrowded outdoor areas, at home, or in individual spaces, according to the Korea Food and Drug Administration's assessment.
