[2nd Report] North Korea Fires 3 Unknown Projectiles into East Sea After One Week

[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu] North Korea fired three unidentified projectiles into the East Sea. This comes one week after North Korea launched projectiles presumed to be 'short-range missiles' on the 2nd.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) announced on the 9th that North Korea fired three unidentified projectiles into the East Sea. On the 9th, the JCS stated, "This morning, three unidentified projectiles launched from the Seondeok area in South Hamgyong Province toward the northeast over the East Sea were detected."

North Korea's projectile launch occurred five days after Chairman Kim Jong-un sent a letter to President Moon Jae-in. On the 4th of this month, North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un sent a letter to President Moon Jae-in expressing condolences regarding the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). President Moon sent a letter of thanks on the 5th.

On the 2nd, at approximately 12:37 PM, North Korea fired two projectiles presumed to be 'short-range missiles' from near Wonsan toward the northeast over the East Sea.

The JCS said, "Our military is tracking and monitoring related developments in preparation for additional launches while maintaining a readiness posture."
