Gwangju Buk-gu 'Lifelong Learning Activation Support Project' Promotion


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 8th that starting next month, it will promote the '2020 Lifelong Learning Activation Support Project' to provide lifelong learning education opportunities to local residents and revitalize the community.


This project is divided into four areas: ▲Community Capacity Building ▲Education Blind Spot ▲Lifelong Learning Clubs ▲Vibrant School.


First, to strengthen the capacity of local communities, about 10 distinctive projects such as humanities and general knowledge, employment and start-up, and co-parenting will be selected for institutions, organizations, and resident groups, and a budget of up to 2 million KRW will be supported.


The Education Blind Spot Support Project will provide a budget of up to 3 million KRW for about five projects related to social adaptation, such as informatization for the educationally marginalized, qualification acquisition for self-reliance, health management, humanities, and awareness improvement, targeting facilities and organizations registered under the Lifelong Education Act.


The Lifelong Learning Club Support Project will select about 20 clubs approved by the Lifelong Learning Center as of the end of January and provide 600,000 KRW in activity expenses per club.


The Vibrant School Operation Project allows small groups of more than 10 residents to hold study meetings at desired locations, selecting a total of 17 places and providing up to 600,000 KRW in support.


Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu, said, "This project was prepared to provide customized learning opportunities reflecting the lifelong education demands of residents," and added, "We will continue to form a sustainable lifelong learning community through active support for excellent programs and lifelong learning clubs."
