Expansion of 40 Public and National Institutions, 4 More Added in Songdo in the Second Half of the Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, has newly opened 10 public daycare centers and started emergency care primarily for children of dual-income couples who find home care difficult during the COVID-19 closure period.
The district announced on the 8th that since the 2nd, 10 new public daycare centers have opened in the area through six free leases, two private conversions, one home purchase conversion, and one new construction.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare's decision, these daycare centers remain closed until the 22nd, and all separate events such as opening ceremonies and orientations have been omitted to prevent COVID-19 infection and spread.
However, for dual-income parents who find home care difficult, emergency childcare is provided, and the body temperature of children and childcare staff is frequently checked, with increased efforts not only in the daycare environment but also in personal hygiene management.
With this opening, the total number of public daycare centers in Yeonsu-gu has increased to 40, and four additional public daycare centers will be installed in new apartment complexes in Songdo in the second half of the year.
District Mayor Ko Nam-seok stated, "We will expand public daycare centers through various methods to address the insufficient childcare demand," adding, "Although all daycare centers are currently closed due to COVID-19, we will do our best to ensure that care for infants and toddlers in need is not neglected."
