10 COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Goyang as of the 8th

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Two additional cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province. As of the 8th, the total number of confirmed cases has reached 10.

According to the authorities on the 8th, a 26-year-old man, A, and his maternal grandfather, B, aged 91, residing in Haetbit Village Complex 24, Haengsin-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total confirmed cases in Goyang-si to 10 as of the 8th.

A works at the Gasan Digital Center in Seoul and is a colleague of patients number 7 and 8 from Goyang-si. He began self-quarantine on the 5th after contact with confirmed patients.

Subsequently, on the morning of the 7th around 9 a.m., B was transported to Sinchon Severance Hospital with a high fever of 39.9 degrees Celsius. After testing, he was confirmed positive around 5 p.m. the same day and was admitted to an isolation ward at Seoul Medical Center. B is currently taking medication for hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.

After initially testing negative, A was retested following B’s positive diagnosis. On the same day at 9:30 p.m., a specimen was collected at Deogyang-gu Public Health Center, and A was confirmed positive on the 8th. A is currently awaiting hospital assignment for transfer.

B’s daughter is currently undergoing testing, while her husband tested negative.

Goyang-si has completed disinfection of their residence and common areas and is conducting an epidemiological investigation.
