Daegu COVID-19 Cases Increase by 294 from Previous Day
Patients Staying at Home Admitted to Residential Treatment Centers
Hospital Beds for Critical Patients Gradually Secured
However, Daegu Cases Exceed 5,000... Too Early to Relax
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] On the 8th, at a regular briefing held at Daegu City Hall, Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin said, "The daily surge in confirmed cases, which had been increasing continuously, peaked at 741 on the 29th of last month and has been steadily declining since then. Today, the number has dropped to the 200s, showing signs of stabilization."
Mayor Kwon emphasized, "Additionally, patients who had been staying at home are now admitted to residential treatment centers and are receiving proper medical care from healthcare professionals," adding, "Hospital beds for critically ill patients are gradually being secured."
He further analyzed, "The number of discharged patients is also gradually increasing, so if this situation is maintained, it is cautiously expected that the total number of confirmed cases will begin to decline starting next week."
However, he added that since the current number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Daegu has exceeded 5,000 and the positive rate of diagnostic tests among the general public is as high as 7.9%, it is still not a situation to be complacent about.
Mayor Kwon stated, "To suppress the spread of COVID-19 and prevent further transmission within the community, the patience and cooperation of citizens are required for the time being," and said, "Daegu City will not retreat a single step in the war against COVID-19 and will fight vigorously."
