[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Hyesoo] Actress Kyung Soo-jin showcased a new concept of 'healing time' by making Makgeolli herself.
On the 6th, the MBC show 'I Live Alone' aired a segment featuring actress Kyung Soo-jin engaging in homemade Makgeolli brewing as a winter healing activity. Right after waking up, Kyung Soo-jin sparked curiosity among the panelists by taking out a large amount of rice from the utility room and washing it. Previously, Kyung Soo-jin had attracted significant attention by skillfully crafting furniture with tools.
In a previous episode, she only ate half an apple, so when she finally took out rice, Park Narae was surprised and asked, "Are you going to eat now?" Hwasa chimed in, "You have to eat," to which Kyung Soo-jin added, "That day was my healing day." However, when she took out an excessive amount of rice, Sung Hoon remarked, "That's too much for one person," and Park Narae said, "I noticed she has big hands then."
Kyung Soo-jin, who was washing 3kg of rice generously, said, "Ah, I'm going to make Makgeolli today." She laughed and explained, "I really like Makgeolli, so I had a plan to try making it at home." She also explained her reason for making homemade Makgeolli, saying, "In summer, you can grow plants and eat them, but in winter, there aren't many options."
With her hair tied tightly and wearing glasses, Kyung Soo-jin began washing the rice diligently. She said, "You have to wash it until the water runs clear," and washed the rice more than ten times, leaving the studio members amazed.
To make good Makgeolli, she even visited a mineral spring and put in great effort. After finally completing the Makgeolli, Kyung Soo-jin tasted it alone and exclaimed, "It's delicious," moved by the flavor. However, Sung Hoon said, "That's self-hypnosis," and Park Narae also expressed skepticism, saying, "I don't know about this. Whether it's good or not."
Kyung Soo-jin, anticipating this reaction, went to get the homemade Makgeolli, and meanwhile, the panelists played rock-paper-scissors to choose a representative to drink the Makgeolli. Kyung Soo-jin brought a perfectly set table with canap?s as side dishes, and Sung Hoon, who lost the rock-paper-scissors, drank the Makgeolli as the representative.
When Sung Hoon drank the Makgeolli, Lee Si-eon and Kian84 looked at him, urging him to give a frank review. After a brief pause, he said, "How should I put this?" and then praised it, saying, "It’s a taste that makes you forget the Makgeolli we used to drink," adding, "It suits my taste." Following Sung Hoon's comment, everyone tried the Makgeolli and expressed admiration.
Lee Si-eon commented, "It's good, this taste," and Park Narae added, "It's sour but a really pleasant sourness," further saying, "It's very nutty and extremely smooth." Kian84 also said, "The taste is sophisticated," making Kyung Soo-jin pleased.
The episode of 'I Live Alone' aired that day recorded ratings of 8.5% for the first part and 11.0% for the second part, ranking first among all variety shows broadcast on Friday.
MBC's variety program 'I Live Alone' airs every Friday at 11 PM.
