Weihai City, China... Support of 15,000 Health Masks Provided

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The COVID-19 prevention efforts in Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do, have received significant support.

On the 6th, Yeosu City announced that Weihai City, China (Mayor Zhang Haibo), its international sister city, donated over 15,000 medical masks along with a letter expressing hope that the donation would aid Yeosu's COVID-19 prevention activities.

Weihai City conveyed warm regards to the citizens of Yeosu, stating, "We feel a deep sense of solidarity as the current COVID-19 situation is a shared challenge for both cities," and added, "Let us join hands to overcome this difficulty together."

Furthermore, they urged, "Let both cities strengthen cooperation further by sharing information and experiences so that we can overcome our common challenges and surely win the fight against COVID-19."

A Yeosu City official said, "True friendship is seen in difficult times. We were deeply moved by this support, which came like rain in a drought during a time of mask shortages," and added, "We will do our best to prevent the spread of confirmed cases and ultimately end COVID-19."

Since establishing their sister city relationship in February 1995, Yeosu City and Weihai City have maintained steady exchanges, including mutual dispatch of officials and reciprocal visits by delegations.
