[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Amid the spread of COVID-19, the proactive efforts of residents in Imun 1-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, to help their neighbors are serving as a model for many.

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) announced that at 3 p.m. on the 3rd, the Imun 1-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee (Chairman Magi-cheol) hosted a "Visiting Disinfection" activity.

About 30 members of the Imun 1-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee voluntarily participated in the activity. The committee members deployed 10 disinfection machines and carried out disinfection for about two hours in cold weather at major multi-use facilities within Imun 1-dong, including the entrance of Hyehwa Station on Subway Line 1, karaoke rooms, religious facilities, and shops.

The Imun 1-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee plans to continue disinfecting vulnerable areas and locations requested by residents within Imun 1-dong until the spread of COVID-19 is contained, aiming to block the local transmission of the virus.

The good deeds of the Imun 1-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee did not stop there.

On the same day, the Imun 1-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee donated 1 million won to the Daegu branch of the Community Chest of Korea to help citizens of Daegu Metropolitan City who are experiencing great difficulties due to the spread of COVID-19, setting an example of neighborly love.

Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "I am truly grateful that residents voluntarily participated in neighborhood disinfection and extended warm hearts to other regions facing difficulties," adding, "The district office will also do its best until the end to minimize the damage caused by COVID-19."
