[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] It was confirmed that access to the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji) website was temporarily unavailable on the 4th. On that day, the Shincheonji site suffered damage presumed to be caused by hacking. As access to the website was unstable, it is presumed that the issue occurred during site stabilization work and related processes.

As of 3:10 PM on the same day, accessing the Shincheonji site displayed a `504 Gateway Time-out` message, and the site was not accessible.

The message displayed on the site means 'Gateway Timeout,' an error message that appears when the site response is delayed or there is a problem with the server.

Earlier that day, around 9:49 AM, the Shincheonji homepage suffered damage presumed to be caused by hacking.

At that time, when accessing the Shincheonji site and clicking on the 'Fake News Q&A about Shincheonji Church of Jesus related to COVID-19' menu, a popup appeared saying, 'Shincheonji site got completely hacked by middle schoolers lolol.'

Additionally, at the bottom of the page, the same phrase appeared along with a photo of a Buddha statue. This page was created on the 21st of last month to refute fake news surrounding Shincheonji related to the COVID-19 outbreak.

However, due to the mocking phrase and the Buddha image exposure, Shincheonji's position to refute fake news was not properly conveyed. Accordingly, Shincheonji took measures regarding the affected menu page and resolved the hacking situation.

Meanwhile, Shincheonji stated that there have been continuous hacking attempts, including strange posts repeatedly appearing on the homepage, and plans to report the matter to the Cyber Investigation Unit of the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency.
