[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The urban regeneration New Deal project for Angol Village in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon is set to kick off in earnest.
The district announced on the 4th that the Urban Regeneration Activation Plan for the 'Angol Village Embraced by Yeongyeongsan' urban regeneration New Deal project, selected last October as a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport public contest project, was recently approved by Incheon City, and the project will be officially notified and launched.
The Angol Village New Deal project will be promoted as a residential support-type urban regeneration New Deal project over four years until 2023, with a total investment of 22.9 billion KRW, including 8.35 billion KRW in national funds.
The Angol Village Urban Regeneration Activation Plan aims to create a distinctive residential area with three goals: 'a charming village where nature, culture, and history breathe,' 'a beautiful village where past and present coexist,' and 'a happy village where neighbors live together.'
Targeting approximately 100,000㎡ in Cheonghak-dong, the Angol Village New Deal project will implement 11 pioneering projects including the Angol Village industrial facility cultural regeneration project, construction of the Urban Regeneration Harmony Center, and creation of Golmok Duregil (alley cooperative paths), as well as 9 linked projects such as the establishment of public parking lots and designation of one-way streets.
District Mayor Ko Nam-seok stated, "We plan to proceed with the Angol Village urban regeneration New Deal project together with residents to create a livable village," adding, "We will continue to provide ample support for the revitalization of Yeonsu-gu's original downtown area."
