Over 70 Staff from Temporarily Closed Public Gymnasiums and Cultural Welfare Facilities Deployed for Quarantine Duties... From the 2nd, Conducting On-site Guidance at Screening Clinics, Building Security, and Parking Management

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) is mobilizing all available personnel to block the spread of COVID-19.
The district, with the cooperation of the Dongdaemun-gu Facilities Management Corporation, has deployed employees belonging to the corporation who work at public gyms, cultural welfare facilities, libraries, and other facilities operated by the corporation to support quarantine efforts starting from the 2nd. This measure reflects the temporary closure of these facilities due to COVID-19.
The personnel deployed for quarantine support number about 70, excluding the minimum staff required to handle essential civil services and facility management.
The support personnel will carry out COVID-19 related tasks such as △on-site guidance at the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center screening clinic △disinfection of major facilities △protection of the district office building △temperature checks for visitors to the district office △parking management until the temporarily closed facilities resume operation as the spread of COVID-19 subsides.
To ensure the safe performance of duties by the support personnel, the district conducted training sessions twice on the 2nd and 3rd, covering △COVID-19 response manuals △preventive action guidelines △tasks to be performed.
You Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We intend to deploy the maximum available personnel to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our area,” and added, “We will do our best to minimize the damage to our residents caused by COVID-19 through cooperation with related organizations.”
Dongdaemun-gu plans to maintain the temporary suspension of about 1,000 cultural and sports programs held at 14 community centers, Dongdaemun-gu Cultural Center, Imun Sports and Culture Center, Dongdaemun-gu Gymnasium, Dongdaemun Disabled Welfare Center, and the postponement of senior classes, which have been in effect since the 10th of last month, until the COVID-19 situation stabilizes.
Additionally, all senior citizen centers, Dongdaemun-gu Cultural Center, 27 public libraries, Dongdaemun Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, local children’s centers, Seoul Oriental Medicine Promotion Center, and other multi-use facilities in the area will remain closed until the COVID-19 spread situation stabilizes.
