Seventh Collaborative Film 'Domangchin Yeoja' Wins Silver Bear for Best Director

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jong-gil] Director Hong Sangsoo and actress Kim Minhee once again received applause at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Director Hong Sangsoo won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival, which closed on the 29th (local time), for the film Introduction. When his name was announced, he shared a warm embrace with his partner Kim Minhee. He then went on stage to thank the jury and said, "If you allow, I hope the actresses stand up and receive applause," drawing applause for Kim Minhee and Seo Younghwa.
Introduction is the seventh collaboration between Director Hong and his partner Kim Minhee. Their previous works together include Right Now, Wrong Then (2015), On the Beach at Night Alone (2016), Claire's Camera (2016), Hotel by the River (2017), Grass (2017), and Hotel by the River (2018). Kim Minhee won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at this festival for On the Beach at Night Alone.
The two displayed affectionate behavior throughout the festival, just like before. Especially at the official press conference on the 25th, they appeared wearing couple rings on the fourth finger of their right hands. Kim Minhee said at the press conference, "If I memorize and deliver what the director writes well, I can perform meaningful acting." She expressed her trust in Director Hong, saying, "If I deviate from the intention, the director guides me well."
Director Hong and Kim Minhee acknowledged their relationship in 2017. Director Hong filed for divorce against his wife but recently received a dismissal decision from the court.
