[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] In Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, a man in his 20s who attended a Shincheonji Daegu Church service tested positive for COVID-19, prompting Yeosu City to take urgent measures.


According to Jeollanam-do and Yeosu City on the 29th, A (22), a resident of Daegu, was confirmed positive for COVID-19 in Yeosu. The hospital in Yeosu visited by the confirmed patient was closed temporarily, and A’s father, who drives a commuter vehicle to and from the Yeosu Industrial Complex, was quarantined.


Also, A was transferred to Suncheon Medical Center that morning and is receiving treatment in a negative pressure isolation room.


A, who has family in Yeosu, attended university in Daegu and is known to have come home for the vacation.


A attended the Shincheonji Daegu Church service on the 16th, was designated for self-quarantine and monitoring, underwent testing, and was confirmed positive on this day.


After attending the Shincheonji Daegu Church service, A came to Yeosu, where his family lives, on the 17th and lived with five family members including his grandmother, parents, older brother, and younger sibling.


The Dong-gu Public Health Center in Daegu notified A of self-quarantine on the 24th and informed him on the afternoon of the 27th that diagnostic testing was necessary.


The Yeosu City Public Health Center visited A’s home on the morning of the 28th, collected specimens, and requested testing, which confirmed the positive result the following day.


Yeosu City collected specimens from all five of A’s family members and requested COVID-19 testing. A’s father, who drives the commuter vehicle to and from the Yeosu Industrial Complex, was placed under quarantine.


The otolaryngology clinic in Yeosu that A visited on the 21st, before receiving the self-quarantine notice, was temporarily closed, and all medical staff there have been tested.


It is reported that after receiving the self-quarantine notice on the 24th, A did not show any particular symptoms such as headache or fever.


Mayor Kwon Obong of Yeosu stated, “Since a confirmed case has occurred in Yeosu, please thoroughly maintain personal hygiene and avoid religious activities or places where many people gather,” and added, “We will devote all efforts to quarantine by deploying testing personnel and facilities.”
