All Schools in Daegu Area Postpone Opening by 2 More Weeks (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Due to concerns over the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), all schools in the Daegu area will postpone the start of the semester by two weeks.

The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 29th that it has decided to delay the opening of 800 kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, and special schools, originally scheduled for the 9th of next month, to the 23rd.

The targets include 341 kindergartens and 459 elementary, middle, high, and special schools.

The Office of Education explained that, as COVID-19 continues to spread in Daegu, it is expected to be difficult to operate the normal educational curriculum for the new semester, and this decision was made in consultation with the Ministry of Education.
