[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] In China, 427 new COVID-19 confirmed cases and 47 deaths were reported in one day on the 28th.
On the 29th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, 427 new COVID-19 confirmed cases had been reported. Among them, 423 cases were from Hubei Province alone, with only 4 new confirmed cases nationwide excluding Hubei Province.
The number of new deaths was 47. Of these, 45 deaths occurred in Hubei Province, and additional deaths were reported in Beijing (1) and Henan Province (1). The number of new suspected cases was 248.
So far, a total of 79,251 people in China have been confirmed with COVID-19. Among them, 39,002 have recovered and been discharged, and 2,835 have died. Currently, 37,414 confirmed patients are isolated and receiving treatment in hospitals. 7,664 are classified as severe cases, so the death toll may increase further.
Currently, 1,418 people are classified as suspected cases, and the cumulative number of close contacts is 658,587. Among them, 58,233 are under medical observation.
Outside mainland China but within the Greater China region, a total of 138 confirmed cases have been reported: Hong Kong 94 (30 discharged, 2 deaths), Macao 10 (8 discharged), and Taiwan 34 (9 discharged, 1 death).
